ZEISS Location in Focus: Wetzlar, Germany
Wetzlar has been home to the production of cutting-edge optics since time immemorial. This is why this city, located in the state of Hesse, is often referred as the "city of optics."
One of the city’s landmark buildings is the Wetzlar Cathedral. Although its construction took centuries and the tower is still incomplete, it projects a unique image.
Alongside the city’s rich history, numerous manufacturers of microscopes, binoculars, eyeglasses, and cameras are based there today. Thus, the ZEISS Sports Optics strategic business unit and the Semiconductor Manufacturing Technology business group are in the best of company here.
Modern machinery, dust-free rooms for final assembly and elaborate quality control methods are the hallmark of the high standards for the production of binoculars, spotting scopes and riflescopes in Wetzlar.
