New Zeiss Touit 50mm E-mount macro lens to ship on May 27.

Current APS-C E-mount camera owners will soon be able to get the next new native E-mount lens. The lens will ship on May 27 according to BHphoto (Click here).

Photographyblog tested the lens (X-mount version) and writes:

For macro photographers who absolutely need 1:1 recording along with and stellar image and build quality, the Carl Zeiss Touit Makro Planar 2.8/50mm T* lens certainly won’t disappoint. More casual users would be better served by the significantly cheaper Fujifilm and Sony equivalents.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel praises historical significance and successful future orientation

Physicist and entrepreneur Ernst Abbe founded the Carl Zeiss Foundation in Jena exactly 125 years ago. German Chancellor Dr. Angela Merkel delivered the speech at the ceremony in the Jena Volkshaus, which was attended by over 300 guests. She praised Abbe's tremendous importance: "Ernst Abbe was way ahead of his time. His Foundation statutes from 1896 served as a model for responsible entrepreneurship. To this day, together with its companies, the Carl Zeiss Foundation is a pioneer of the social market economy. ZEISS and SCHOTT stand for leading-edge technology 'Made in Germany'."

A7s gets pricing in UK (preorder). And first English FE lens roadmap.

This is the first (very glossy) image of the english FE lens roadmap shared by Fotosidan.se. I am still a bit surprised this news hasn’t been shared to all websites. We also still don’t know the price of the A7s in Euro but at least you can have it in UK: It’s priced at 2499 pounds at CameraCenter on eBay (Click here).
