The new Zeiss 35mm and Sony 90mm are spectacular, and the 28mm a terrific bang for the buck. But according to Amazon US lens ranking (Click here) the most preordered of the new four FE lenses is the 24-240mm travel zoom! Note that the ranking counts both orders and preorders and it changes hourly.
I have to admit that I am one of those guys actually thinking to buy the 24-240mm lens. It simply is very handy to have such a travel zoom!

Good news folks! For the very first time Sigma said that the development of lenses for the Sony FE system is now one of their priorities. Kazuto Yamaki, CEO of Sigma said this in an interview with Dpreview. In detail those are the interesting points related to Sony:
1) Question: Is it difficult to correct for certain formats like Sony’s full-frame Alpha series which have very short flange-back distances? Is that one of the reasons why we’re not seeing Sigma lenses for those systems?
Answer: No – we want to increase our lineup for mirrorless cameras, but it’s just a matter of priorities.
2) Question: Can you give us an idea of your current priorities?
Answer: DSLRs first, particularly Canon and Nikon, since most of our customers use those systems. And after that mirrorless. Sony FE-mount.
3) Question: A lens like Sony’s Zeiss 55mm F1.8 for the FE mount is optically superb but quite small and light. If you were to design ‘Art’ lenses for that system, would you try to strike a different balance between quality and size, and try to make the lenses smaller?
Answer: Yes – that’s also one of the segments we’re interested in. Another motivation for us to make new lenses is to differentiate between other manufacturers. Sony already has a 55mm F1.8 which is nicely sized and reasonably priced, so why make another? But F1.4 compared to F1.8 is a huge difference, so we’d either make a F1.4, or something different.
That’s great news! We really need a lot more FE lenses and Sigma has proven it can do high quality lenses without to charge too much for them. Sigma also said their ART lenses can resolve 50MP+ FF sensors. Can’t wait to see their FE Art lenses!

BHphoto (Click here) tested the Sony 24-240mm lens and writes:
In my rudimentary testing I can say that when I focused on something at the telephoto end and zoomed out, the focus did not shift noticeably, which is a big plus. The main drawbacks for video are the stiff zoom barrel, as well as the distortion, which is not as easily corrected for video users. Still, if you have to have a large zoom range and don’t want to splurge for the Sony FE PZ 28-135 lens, then this is certainly a viable option.
It’s not going to be the sharpest or most light-sensitive lens but, in my testing, I think it does well enough to use in place of other FE lenses—in most circumstances.
Steve Huff (Click here) previewed the Zeiss 35mm f/1.4 FE lens and writes:
For me, this is TRULY the 1st native “WOW” lens for the Sony full frame FE system. It easily surpasses the 55 1.8 for me as well as the 35 2.8 that I have been using since the launch of the A7 system, and those are both beautiful lenses when it comes to image quality. The 35 1.4 has such a beautiful character and rich rendering.
Amateur Photographer (Click here) tested the Zeiss 35mm f/1.4 FE lens and writes:
Optically it isn’t perfect, but the chromatic aberration is slight and I would actually rate the vignetting as a nice feature. In terms of resolution this lens is difficult to fault, and it is certainly one of the sharpness lenses we have tested for the Alpha 7 series, although the 90mm f/2.8 macro lens looks like it may well offer some competition on that front.
Having used the Zeiss Distagon T* FE 35mm f/1.4 ZA lens for a few days, I am left with the impression that this is a lens with character. From the resolution and bokeh to the build quality and aperture ring, this lens has a certain something about it that makes it stand out from the generic 35mm lenses that roll off production lines.
There is yet no test of the 90mm macro and 28mm FE lens (just image samples at Pantip).
