The Deutsches Museum in Munich is celebrating today the opening of its planetarium featuring state-of-the-art ZEISS technology. The first presentation in the planetarium was held during the official Germany start of the International Year of Light by the UN General Assembly. ZEISS provided the high-performance projection system for the new 15 meter dome that is large enough for 160 visitors.

(SR5) At last good news folks! Sony will also released the Zeiss FE 35mm f/1.4 and Sony 28mm lens!
So it’s true. Sony really now has the strategy to announce the stuff after the big shows
Next week on Wednesday March 4 at around 5-7 am London time Sony will announce the new 24-240mm FE lens (this means you can preorder it the very same day). And now Digicameinfo reports that also th Zeiss FE 35mm f/1.4 and the Sony 28mm f/2.0 should be announced very soon (I Guess the same day!). As usual you cna follow the live blogging of the lens announcement on SAR (5-7am London time of March 4).
Digicameinfo and also one of my sources told me that maybe the 90mm FE macro lens will be announced as last lens in another occasion. That’s why it’s also not listed among the other lenses by the Hong Store who already accepts preorders on three new FE lenses.
The images you see here are the official product photos of the new lenses.
Zeiss FE 35mm f/1.4 for $1,729 (Click here to see it).
Sony FE 24-240mm lens for $1,099 (Click here to see it).
Sony FE 28mm f/2.0 lens for $459 (Click here to see it).

(SR5) New Sony FE 24-240mm will be announced next week on March 4.
Digicameinfo reports that the 24-240mm FE lens will be announced next week on Wednesday March 4. This means preorders are expected to start the very same day. Shipment is expected to start on March 12 in Japan. It’s yet unclear if Sony will also release the pricing info (and accept preorders) on the other three new lenses. Although as I reported before Hong Kong store Shenzen is already accepting preorders on the new FE lenses:

New Sony FE lenses now listed on eBay.
Some Hong Kong seller already listed the new Sony FE lenses. I don't know if it's bogus or not but Digicameinfo heard the 24-240mm FE lens is definitely going to be announced next week on March 4. Here are the links to the eBay auctions of the new lenses:

Bernard: “A new test has been added for the Sony A6000 with a Rokinon 7.5mm lens. For over a year, people visit the site to compare different possible combinations of cameras and lenses for panoramic photography. The addition of the Sony A6000 complements the range presented on the site. A modification was done on the Sony A6000. Improve the standard Sony E-mount with the Fotodiox TOUGH E-Mount. This all-metal mount replaces the two-part mount that comes with most Sony E-mount cameras. Of those two parts, the actual mount that holds the lens is made of plastic, which is susceptible to wear and lens movement. By removing four screws, taking out the two mount parts, and inserting the TOUGH E-Mount, you give your camera a stronger and more durable lens connection. Of all sets that have been tested by quebecpanorama, the Sony A6000 with Rokinon 7.5mm lens is the one that offers the best value for money. The impressive quality, coupled with the ease of transportation, seduced us, so it became the official QuébecPanorama set. http://ift.tt/1JSWYXP “

Surprise: New Zeiss 35mm f/1.4 FE lens already on eBay. Ships on March 13 for $1,729.
Very surprising to see that. But Japanese store Shenikon is already accepting preorders on the new Zeiss FE 35mm f/1.4 lens via their official eBay Store (Click here to see it).
Shenikon writes:
This is a brand new, unused and unopened Carl Zeiss Distagon T* FE 35mm F1.4 ZA Full-Frame Wide Angle Lens. It is made in Sony E Mount for all Sony mirrorless digital cameras. It comes with lens hood, tripod stand, lens case, front cap, rear cap and user manual and all original packaging.
This is a pre-order. Item will be shipped on or before 13th March 2015. If you have any question or want to combine shipments, please feel free to contact us. We look forward to serving you.
Shenikon is quite a major Japanese store. I would be surprised to hear that’s a mistake made by them. I really do hope this means all four new FE lenses will ship from March 13.

(SR2) Is the new “cheap” FF E-mount camera coming in April?
I got a new rumor about the new Sony entry level FF E-mount camera. The anonymous source says:
“The super cheap e mount 35mm cam will be published next month. We got a delivery in our sony store. It will ship 21 april 15“
Over a month ago we got a rumor about that camera having a price of around 799 Euro. Sony patented that FE entry-level camera in 2013 already (SAR article here). Doesn’t mean the camera is coming for sure yet. But if Sony would really announce it this would become the world’s most compact FF camera yet. Still, Sony has no real compact FE lens to offer along this one a part of the Zeiss FE 35mm f/2.8 lens.

(SR5) Small update on the FE 24-240mm announcement and other upcoming products.
Had a chat with Digicameinfo and with two of my sources. Here are the key info:
1) The FE 24-240mm will ship on March 12 in Japan but the real announcement with full pricing info, preorders and specs is expected to be within the next few days (maybe this week already)!
2) There is a very high chance of another Sony product announcement coming in late March (or first week of April). And that should be for camera(s)
3) The other three FE lenses (90mm macro, 35mm Zeiss and 28mm G) price should be announced in April.
The real question is what’s coming from Sony ont he camera front. I got reliable rumor about the High Res camera, RX2 (curved sensor) and A7000. But the very same sources told me Sony Japan is keeping the release date info very secret.

A few great pictures of the new FE lenses (look how big that 24-240mm FE is).
At last we know the new first FE lens will be announced on March 12. It’s the 24-240mm FE OSS lens! And the other three lenses are likely to be released in April.
Our reader Cabala shared us those pics of the new Sony FE lenses (Source: http://ift.tt/1EM84Y2). The picture on top shows the max length of the new 24-240mm FE OSS lens. He writes about that lens:
“The weight is OK, balance was well on the old small grip A7 body. The zoom ring is sooo hard to turn, maybe this was a preproduction lens, but still uncomfortable on my hands. The lens filter size of FE 24-240mm is 72mm, the coating showed a fantastic color.”
This is the Zeiss FE 35mm 1.4:
My impression was: big, heavy, solid, classic. The focus speed was great, bokeh is great. The focus ring was so big, I don’t think people need that size. Accurately the lens felt like an all metal Sigma Art lens, and aperture click switch button was on it which means it was also designed for video work. The reflecting of the front lens could barely been seen, a nano coating?
The FE 28mm f/2.0 lens:
With A7 II’s body, lens without OSS could be smaller lighter bigger aperture. And the bigger grip of A7 II suited the lens well. A nicely builded lens with fast auto focus. Filter size is 49mm.
FE 90mm f/2.8 Macro G OSS lens
Very funny lens, with push and pull focus ring. you can see an element moves inside the lens. My main feeling was the weight of the lens, all at the front end of it. So the balance was strange. The OSS of the 90mm macro lens feels very efficiently, auto focus speed is OK but not decisively. Push the button on the lens body will stop auto focus process, it just worked fine. The lens reflection showed a big difference from the 35mm f1.4 lens.
Thanks Cabala!

New Loxia 35 and 50mm review.
The 35mm Loxia (Image courtesy: Stockografie).
Stockografie (Click here) tested both Zeiss Loxia lenses:
The Zeiss Loxia 2/35 as well as the Zeiss Loxia 2/50 is a wonderfully crafted lenses. They are built to withstand almost anything a photographer could run into. I would not hesitate to use these lenses under harsh conditions such as rain, dust or any other kind of influences.
If I would have to choose between one of the two I would go for the Zeiss Loxia 2/35 but that is only my personal preference as I like the 35mm field of view better than that of the Zeiss Loxia 2/50. In terms of image quality both lenses are amongst the best you can get for your A7 series camera with a native E-Mount.

I have worked very closely with Sony Alpha Cameras & even longer with Sony Creative Software. The footages were shot extremely flat then color graded in Genarts Sapphire 8 Film Style (main camera) & the side camera graded in BCC9 Film Process (the camera on me was a Nikon D5200 which I have since got rid of. The flat profile produced colors that were completely different from the Sony cameras & sometimes flickered with the LED lights).

Sony is the only company without a product announcement at CP+. Your thoughts?
The Zeiss 35mm FE cut in half at CP+ Sony booth (Source: Matthew Allard).
Well, Sony decided to literally skip the CP+ show and is as far as I know the only major photo company not having announced a new camera or lens. But also the other companies kept a low profile (Read Engadget articles about that). Canon’s 5ds will ship in June only and all other manufacturers did show many prototypes and much less “real” production cameras.
Just like it happened with the A7II launch Sony seems to prefer to launch major stuff off the big show to get more publicity. And here is the question to our SAR readers:
Note: There is a poll embedded within this post, please visit the site to participate in this post's poll.

Newsshooter FE lens hands-on videos.
Newsshooter at CP+ Tokyo 2015- Sony Distagon T* FE 35mm F1.4 ZA First Look from Matthew Allard ACS on Vimeo.
Reminder: Without a single word Sony decided to postponed the FE lens launch. Back at Photokina the first shipment was promised to be in February. And even their current Sony Japan site advertise the new lenses. But at Cp+ Sony decided to not answer any question about that. Anyway, the real pricing and shipment announcement should come very soon as reported by DC.watch.
The Sony FE lenses at the Sony booth:
Newsshooter writes about the Zeiss FE 35mm f/1.4 lens:
The new lens felt very solid in the hand and although not a light lens it did not feel unbalanced on a Sony a7. The lens features a 72mm front and comes with a nice lens hood. From the limited time I had using the lens I was left with a positive impression. It is very sharp, produces nice bokeh and seems to have good control of chromatic aberration and vignetting.
Newsshooter also posted a Sony 28mm f/2.0 Hands-on video and writes:
The build quality is fair, but not in the same class as the 35mm F1.4 FE ZE. From my quick play with the lens, it optically looked pretty good. It also had pretty close focus ability that I estimated to be around the 30cm mark. Once you put the adapters on expect a drop in optical performance. The Ultra Wide Adapter had quite a lot of barrel distortion and definitely looked a little softer in the corners. The Fish Eye Adaptor does produce minor vignetting in full frame mode.
